New Brunswick’s Many Beaches Equates to Plenty of Beach Glass

If you are looking for beach glass you have come to the right place!

Over half of New Brunswick is surrounded by water, which means it has some great beaches. One of the bodies of water is the Bay of Fundy and the other is The Gulf of St. Lawrence. Since the Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world, it is no wonder why New Brunswick has some great beach glass. The tides bring in new treasures every time they cycle, which is twice a day.

I have collected all kinds of beach/sea glass at various locations around the province.

I’ve always wanted to go to a secluded island that no one visits. Since there is a fair amount of sea glass on local beaches I would be willing to bet that there would be an abundance of it on any secluded island off the coast of New Brunswick.

I have found some very beautiful pieces. My most special piece of beach glass was a light blue bottle-stopper that I found at New River Beach Provincial Park near Saint John New Brunswick. These are rare and I was very fortunate to find it!

Many colors are abundant in New Brunswick but white and green seem to be the most common. I have found a few small blue pieces and my only red piece was found in on a beach in Grand Manan, a small Island off the southern coast of mainland New Brunswick.

My sister-in-law and I both make jewelry from the glass that we find. It sure makes an interesting conversation piece. I love telling people where I found them…you don’t forget where you find those special pieces such as the bottle stopper and the red piece.

My kids are great beach hounders. They love to find new colors and special pieces for mom to make jewelry from.

They are so proud to tell where they found the glass when someone asks about it. Another great thing is that it can literally keep them busy for hours. We had a two-hour wait for the Ferry leaving Grand Manan and the boys spent the entire two hours picking sea glass on a beach just a short walk from the ferry terminal. This particular beach had mostly teeny-tiny pieces but lots of it!

At Murray Beach, dad had a nap while the boys and I collected glass for over an hour.

At New River Beach we walked the beach for what seemed to be a mile, and we all were finding some beach/sea glass.

All in all, the Fundy Isles are a great place to find all kinds of treasures along their various beaches. Come and explore them for yourself!
