Parlee Beach Provincial Park: Which one first...the beach or seafood?

Look no further, because you can get both at Parlee Beach! Parlee Beach Provincial Park is located on the Acadian coast just outside the city of Moncton/Dieppe in the beautiful community of Shediac New Brunswick. Parlee Beach Provincial Park has some of the warmest salt-water beaches north of Virginia and their sandy beaches are unsurpassed in Eastern Canada.

Directions:

To get to this Provincial Park from the Moncton area you will need to take Route 15 to Shediac and then Route 133. From Confederation Bridge take Route 16 to Port Elgin and then Route 15 to Shediac and onto Route 133. An alternate route from Confederation Bridge would be Route 955. Please keep in mind that Route 955 is bumpy and narrow for larger travel trailers but the view in places is wonderful.

Facilities:

This Provincial Park is a full service facility. This is the most popular beach in the Maritimes. Activities such as swimming, sun bathing, beach volleyball, football, beach combing, and sand castle building are all the rave on this beautiful beach. Services such as showers, washrooms, playground, amphitheatre, and food are all available.

At the Parlee Beach Provincial Park Campground there are 165 sites but not all have services. Some have water and electricity, some have 3-way service, and some have no services except a community water tap. Some of the sites are very open and some are a bit more private with some trees. For those that require it, there is a dumping station near the registration building. Near by you will find a marina, restaurant facilities, and an abundance of accommodations.

Keep in mind it is a 10-minute walk to the beach from the Campground. You can drive to the beach... and yes, there is lots of parking available.

Parlee Beach is one of New Brunswick’s most popular attractions bringing in more than a million visitors each summer.

The nearby community of Shediac is best known as the Lobster Capital of The World! The giant lobster sculpture at Rotary Park is a symbol of this title. The sculpture is 11 meters long, 5 meters high, and 5meters wide. It is a popular place to get your picture taken. Can you spot my two boys on this huge crustacean?

If you would like a real lobster fishing experience go down to Point du Chene wharf and climb aboard “Lobster Tales”. This is only minutes from Parlee Beach Provincial park. They will show you how lobster fishing is done and give you a cracking demonstration to show you how to get the lobster meat out of the shell. Your meal is included in the cost of the trip along with a beautiful cruise in the Shediac bay. Lots of great laughs were had the day I did this excursion! The staff were GREAT, the food was excellent, the cruise was relaxing, and the day was superb!
The down town area

of Shediac New Brunswick has everything a visitor would need to stay comfortably. From banks, grocery stores, drug stores, boutiques, Laundromat, liquor-store, bakery, Tim Hortons, service stations, and an abundance of restaurants, Shediac has all the services of a city in a small community.

Besides all this you are only a short distance to many of the finest New Brunswick attractions. Magic Mountain Water Theme Park, Crystal Palace Indoor Amusement Park, Magnetic Hill, and the Zoo are all located in Moncton. In Bouctouche you can walk the 2- kilometers of boardwalk along the sand dunes at the Irving Eco-Centre and La Dune De Bouctouche. The fictional Village of author Antonine Maillet can be experienced at Le Pays de la Sagouine. The Bay of Fundy has numerous attractions such as the Hopewell Rocks, Cape Enrage, and Fundy National Park that will keep you busy for a few days.

New Brunswick Travel Tips:

Shediac is a great anchor point to stay and do day excursions around the area or to stay and enjoy a relaxing vacation at the beach.
