Whether it is downhill or cross-country skiing New Brunswick has you covered for the winter season. There are four major downhill ski hills in New Brunswick. Crabbe Mountain boasts the largest vertical drop of 853 feet with Poley Mountain at 660 feet, Mount Farlagne at 600 feet and Sugarloaf at 507 feet.
Crabbe Mountain Location:
Crabbe Mountain is located in Hainesville, New Brunswick between Fredericton and Woodstock. From Fredericton North take Route 105 west to the 104 north and follow the signs. From Woodstock take the Nackawic exit #231 and go across the bridge following Route 105 south to route #610 north and follow the signs. With the tallest vertical drop of 853 feet at Crabbe Mountain there is something for the beginner, expert, adventurous, and cautious. Crabbe Mountain Amenities include ski lessons, rentals, cafeteria, lounge, retail store, childcare, lockers, and ski patrol for people looking to do some snowboarding, downhill skiing, and cross-country skiing.
Crabbe Mountain Trails and Services:
From November to May downhill skiers and snow boarders have 22 alpine trails to choose from with three lifts servicing those trails. There is night skiing available on 5 of the trails. Since the Crabbe Mountain area only receives 305 cm of snow annually 53% of their snow is manmade.
There is over 30km of cross-country trails at Crabbe Mountain, which are accessible near the main lodge. The trails take you through spectacular forest scenery of mature hardwood and pine, beaver ponds, various tree plantations, and ecosystems with many of the trails located on private property. There is something for the beginner all the way up to the advanced. Crabbe Mountain now has a new Terrain Park for the snowboarder in the family.
Crabbe Mountain Facilities and Lodging:
Crabbe Mountain has a large selection of rentals for those that don’t have their own equipment along with a day lodge and snack bar when you get hungry. There are a few apartments or chalets on site for rent with extra accommodations in the Fredericton area for your convenience.
Crabbe Mountain Operating Hours and Season:
Crabbe Mountain is open for business from November to May. Operating hours run Sunday to Tuesday 9:00am to 4:30 pm. and Wednesday to Saturday 9:00 am to 9:00pm. Night skiing begins at 4:00pm on Wednesday through Saturday. Half-day rates are from 9:00am-1:00pm or 1:00pm to 9:pm. Hours may vary due to an early season, holidays, spring break and weather. Poley Mountain Location:
Poley Mountain is located 10 km southeast of Sussex New Brunswick on the Waterford Road. Sussex is well known as the dairy capital of the Maritimes and is full of good old Maritime hospitality. Sussex is centrally located between Moncton, Saint John and the capital city of Fredericton. From Saint John take route 1 East to exit #198 and follow route 111 east on Post Road. From there turn left onto Needle Street and follow signs for Poley Mountain. From Fredericton take route 2 east to exit 365 onto route 10. From Route 10follow signs for route 1 east to exit #198 and follow route 111 east on Post Road. From there turn left onto Needle Street and follow signs for Poley Mountain. From Moncton take route 1 west to exit #198 and follow route 111 east on Post Road. From there turn left onto Needle Street and follow signs for Poley Mountain.
Poley Mountain Trails and Services:
From December through April Poley Mountail has 29 trails located on 70 acres of skiable terrain. It is known as the premier ski resort in Southern New Brunswick. Night skiing is available on seven trails with a Halfpipe and Terrain Park. Approximately 80% of the snow at Poley is manmade. The Carousel is the longest Trail and is is a mile long. Some of Poley’s most recent upgrades include an alpine lift in ’08, some trail work and an upgrade to parking facilities.
Poley Mountain Facilities and Lodging:
The Fireside Lounge has a spectacular view of the hill and is filled with warmth and good food. The Fire Side Lounge has a seating capacity of 120 people and now offers weekly specials. Please take note that the Lounge is actually closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. There are no lodging facilities associated with Poley Mountain but there are some hotels, motels and B&B’s in the nearby town of Sussex, New Brunswick.

Sugarloaf Provincial Park Location:
Sugarloaf Provincial Park, one of nine Provincial Parks in New Brunswick, is located in the northern part of New Brunswick three kilometers from the city of Campbellton. You really cannot miss it.
Sugarloaf Trails and Services:
Sugarloaf Park offers 3000 acres of unspoiled forest to enjoy any time of the year. For the winter months there are 9 Alpine Trails, 6 trails for snow boarders, over 20 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails, 32km of groomed snowmobile trails, 2 snowshoeing trails, a sliding hill, and an outdoor skating rink equipped with lights for night skating. Sugarloaf is also equipped with a Terrain Park and Half-Pipe. With and annual snowfall of 144 inches there is no need for man-made snowmaking at Sugarloaf.
Sugarloaf Facilities and Lodging:
After a busy day of winter activity relax in the Lounge/Bar or grab a quick bite at the cafeteria and keep going. There is also a ski and snowboard school if you are looking to learn some new techniques and a pro shop for your convenience. The nearby city of Campbellton has plenty of suitable accommodations for those looking to stay for a few days.

Mont Farlagne Location:
Mont Farlagne is located at 360 Mont Farlagne Rd. off Route #2 at exit 13 just a few kilometers west of the City of Edmundston, New Brunswick
Mont Farlagne Trails and Services:
There are 21 trails ranging from beginner to advanced expert. This area of the province receives approximately 250 inches of snow annually resulting in about 60% of their snow being man-made. For snow boarders there is a Terrain Park and a Half-Pipe. There are no cross-country trails at Mont Farlagne
Mont Farlagne Facilities and Lodging:
Mont Farlagne is outfitted with a pro shop where equipment is available for rent in various sizes and there are professional people to assist when a repair is necessary. In the cafeteria enjoy a light snack or an entire meal with a menu to please everyone.
There are lots of accommodations to choose from in the nearby city of Edmundston with many hotels offering ski and snowboard package deals.

Cross-country trails are available in many parts of New Brunswick but most are owned and operated by clubs. New Brunswick’s two National Parks offer the most groomed trails with Fundy National Park having 40km and Kouchibouguac National Park offering 25km
