Stock Car Racing Photos from Speedway 660 in New Brunswick

The first two stock car racing photos are of Dave Biggar with his beautiful yellow Pontiac #70. Dave started racing in Ontario and continued after moving to New Brunswick a few years back. As a licensed mechanic he has built several of his own race cars with the help of some friends along the way. One of his most prestigious wins was the Oleary Pontiac Excitement 150 in 2008.

Dave's #70 is all shiny and ready to hit the race track. We asked Dave where his "good luck charm" was and he just chuckled. There's a story behind this one isn't there Dave? We will get to the root of that another day.

View Dave Biggar's stock car racing photos and follow his results.

This is #55 getting all shined up for the big race. It would be a shame to get dented up wouldn't it?

This stock car racing photo was taken while in the pits at Speedway 660 in Geary (near Fredericton) New Brunswick. Speedway 660 is one of only two raceways in the province of New Brunswick. The other one is called Centre For Speed and is located in Shediac New Brunswick.

You honestly would have to be here to experience the combination smells of grease, oil, rubber tires and testosterone. This is very serious business. There was only one female racer in the group! You go girl!!

The day we were at Speedway 660 it was DQ Kids day. The kids loved the opportunity to go into the pits and meet their favorite drivers. They also collected candy from the drivers as well as pictures and autographs.

This car blew a rear axle in the warm-up. Someone told us he was leaking "rear-end" fluid. That sounded serious, I sure wouldn't want that problem!

The pit crew worked very quickly to get it fixed in time for the big race. I'd say they have a great pit crew.

The first official race of the night was the Bandoleros race. These are mini cars driven by kids. I couldn't believe how young the kids were (10-11 years old), and how long they had been racing (some for 5 or 6 years)!

I'm told some of these kids started racing at age 5. These kids have no fear at what-so-ever. They were racing these mini cars at speeds of 65-70 miles/hr. There was one little smash-up but for the most part they had a clean race.

These next few stock car racing photos are of the 4-cylinder class. This is a new class at Speedway 660 that is quickly gaining in popularity. I think I used to own one of these little cars...but I'm sure did not reach any record speeds like these ones did.

And the race is on...

The squeal of tires around the sharp turns and the very loud roar of the motors with no exhaust pipes was hard to get used to at first, but by the end of the night we hardly noticed it at all.

Another one bites the dust!!

The following few stock car racing photos are of the Pro Stock Class. As the evening went on the cars got more and more fancy and the races got faster and faster. Instead of thinking that the wire safety net in front of my view was really annoying, I started to appreciate it very much!

After a few false starts and a few smash-ups these races were over for another day. The drivers were all OK but some of those beautiful shiny cars had seen better days.

The final race of the night was the Sportsman Class. It consisted of 30 trips around the track. Again there were a few smashes but everyone was OK.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the races and were able to get some great stock car racing photos. We will certainly return for more stock car racing excitement very soon.
